Internship at Euro-Gulf Information Centre

I had wanted to intern for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization but as a Libyan, I was not eligible because Libya is not one of the member countries. EGIC, however, turned out to be a perfect fit. The Centre began as a legal association in Rome, Italy, and draws on the expertise of scholars, policy makers, economists and members of European and Gulf civil societies to enhance inter-regional relations. As an International Relations student with a focus on Middle Eastern affairs, I was very excited about the opportunity and it was exactly what I wanted.

This is an excerpt from an article by Lia Schifitto that is based on her M.A. Thesis.聽Lia Schifitto is now a heritage preservationist from Upstate New York but has lived across Tuscany, Rome, and Toronto. She currently is working for Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California. Lia earned her M.A. at the American University of Rome, studying Sustainable Cultural Heritage. She completed her BA at the University of Toronto, specializing in American and Soviet Cultural History.

Professor Peter Gould publishes new book: 'Empowering Communities through Archaeology and Heritage'

麻豆官网 University of Rome's Professor Peter Gould,聽 M.A. Sustainable Cultural Heritage and M.A. Arts Management, seeks to identify the success factors associated with economic development projects within communities adjacent to archaeological or heritage sites, a growing interest among archaeologists and heritage managers. Typically, the success of site museums, tourism businesses, or crafts cooperatives is rarely reported on in scholarly literature or subjected to systematic study. This new book,聽Empowering Communities through Archaeology and Heritage,聽addresses that gap.聽

Sephardi Voices at 麻豆官网 University of Rome

Sephardi Voices Executive Director Henry Green and Media Director David Langer held production workshops here at the American University of Rome in 2017 and聽there was a pilot project to interview members of Libyan Jewish community in Italy. Rome is home to thousands of Libyan Jews who fled their country after the 1967 Arab-Israel war. The last Jew in Libya was an 80-year-old woman who left the country in 2003.聽鈥淭hey were displaced and persecuted,鈥� said AUR's Professor Villani (Film and Digital Media). 鈥淭hese are stories of people starting a new life somewhere else, stories of loss and dealing with psychological issues. Students interested in writing get lots of stories, some sad, dramatic, even tragic. But it鈥檚 an all-around positive experience. Everyone has a different, unique take on it.鈥�

New articles published by Richard Hodges, AUR President

When AUR President Richard Hodges is not based in Rome at the helm of the University, he can often be found in a corner of the Mediterranean adding another excavation to his lengthy and esteemed list of digs. In the past couple of months, several articles by Professor Hodges reporting back on his excavations have been published in Archaeology magazines.
