Madelaine Kuns (’08), International Director of Communications and Fundraising,Ìýand Daniela Alba (MA’23), Fundraising Coordinator at Jesuit Refugee Service

The Jesuit Refugee Service is a faith-based organization operating worldwide to serve, accompany, and advocate for and with refugees and forcibly displaced populations. This conversation will touch upon the approach, mission, and vision of JRS, how it sees the reality of forced displacement in the current geopolitical global climate, and its role in the humanitarian field.

Madelaine Kuns '07Ìýwas born and raised in Fremont, Ohio. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Â鶹¹ÙÍø University of Rome and received a master's degree in Philanthropy and Development from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Madelaine has a passion for advocacy and is deeply committed to the cause of the forcibly displaced. She has previously worked for the Vatican’s Congregation for Causes of Saints, Tulane University, and since March of 2020, for the Jesuit Refugee Service, serving as the International Director of Communications and Fundraising. For Madelaine, garnering the sustainable support of donors has been a career-long practice and what drives her as a leader. She lives in Rome with her husband and two sons, Luca (7) and Romeo (4). In her free time, she enjoys baking, traveling, and spending quality time with her boys.Ìý

Daniela Alba '23Ìýis originally from Bogota, Colombia.ÌýDaniela is currently a fundraising and outreach coordinator at the Jesuit Refugee Service. She immigrated to the United States with her family at an early age and lived in Florida, Texas, South Carolina, and Oklahoma before settling in New York City.ÌýShe holds a master’s degree from Â鶹¹ÙÍø University of Rome andÌýa bachelor's degreeÌýfrom Brooklyn College at the City University of New York. Before joining JRS, Daniela worked for OXFAM and UNICEF Italia, the Diocese of Brooklyn in New York. She interned at The Consulate General of Italy in New York and the FAO HQ in Rome. She is committed to education, human rights, and cross-cultural advocacy for refugees and migrants with lived experiences of displacement. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, weaving, and cooking.Ìý
